This is a classic indicator remade by ninZa.co. But why is it "superior"?

We just added an offset high and an offset low to form an upper cloud and a lower cloud.

The offset can be defined in multiple units: ninZaATR, standard deviation, or channel range. If the market closes inside the upper cloud, we have an uptrend initiated. If it closes inside the lower cloud, we have a downtrend initiated. This is a simple yet awesome way to categorize market phases. Superior Donchian, therefore, helps you ride a massive trend to the very end for the highest profit possible.

In this indicator, ninZaATR is used (instead of regular ATR) for better performance. For your information, ninZaATR is ninZa.co's special ATR version that helps improve indicator performance significantly on intraday charts. It is also a standalone FREE indicator for ninZaFamily → https://ninza.co/product/ninzaatr.

  • Plot the traditional Donchian channel
  • Add an offset high & an offset low to form an upper cloud and a lower cloud
  • Allow calculating the offset based on ninZaATR, standard deviation or channel range
  • Allow smoothing moving average
  • Colorize bars to clearly show uptrend vs downtrend
  • Colorize plots to clearly show uptrend vs downtrend
  • Allow painting the upper and lower cloud separately
  • Trigger alerts on trend shift
  • Print markers on trend shift
  • Be NinjaScript ready for advanced usage, only restricted by your imagination
  • Expose dedicated NinjaScript signals
Dedicated NinjaScript signals:
  • Signal_State: 1 = uptrend, -1 = downtrend

Software Changelog

  • 06 Apr 2021 - A minor issue was fixed.
  • 20 Mar 2021 - Regular ATR was replaced with ninZaATR for better performance; massive changes, fixes and improvements were made (DPI, display name, Z order, alert properties, marker string, bar painting, chart info, property naming/positioning/grouping).
  • 23 Jul 2019 - Sound selector was fixed.
  • 05 Apr 2019 - The indicator was released (built new).
