A pin bar was referred to as a Pinocchio bar in Martin Pring's great book "Technical Analysis Explained", because of the similarity between them:

  • The shape of a pin bar looks like Pinocchio's long nose.
  • Both pin bars and Pinocchio tell lies. There's a moment during its formation, a pin bar is solidly bullish/bearish but at the end of the bar everyone knows that's false information.

Our indicator allows you to filter pin bars by the neutral range and minimum size.

Please keep in mind that pin bars alone are not trading signals. You will need to analyze pin bars in their contexts.
