What is Slow Candle 4U?

Slow Candle 4U is our free indicator that helps you read the speed of each candle.

On range, tick, or Renko charts, the speed of candle formation can reveal important details about market conditions. Slow Candle 4U measures whether the current candle is forming slower than the average speed of the last N candles.

How it helps your trading:

With this information, you can:

  • Spot candle speed instantly: See at a glance whether the current candle is forming slower than usual.
  • Recognize when liquidity is low: Candles taking too long to form often indicate the market is in a quiet phase with reduced trading volume, a period when many traders choose to wait.
  • Recognize decisive moves: Very slow candles may indicate an intense battle between buyers and sellers, while fast candles can signal strong momentum, both worth noting before entering a trade.

Note: Slow Candle 4U works only on non-time-based charts.

This is my story, I ordered the Day Range indicator for NIFTY India. To my dismay, it didn't work well as it calculated ranges in ticks. I asked Larry Pi if there was a workaround, and he created a new version with all the choices for range unit: points, ticks, pips. He was with me all through the process, with very short turnaround cycles. So don't hesitate at all to pick what you want! You won't regret.
