Trade Mean Reversion with a higher win-rate objective.
Move beyond shallow pullbacks and premature entries. Focus on more meaningful price extremes and better-qualified opportunities for a return toward value.
Recognize the limits of conventional Mean Reversion
Conventional Mean Reversion is based on the assumption that when price moves too far from its equilibrium or value area, it tends to return toward it. In reality, not every pullback or price extension leads to a meaningful Mean Reversion opportunity.
A trader may:
- Choose the wrong trade direction, such as taking a Short position while bullish directional pressure remains in place.
- Enter too early, when price has only made a shallow pullback.
- Apply the same entry location across different market conditions.
- Attempt to catch a reversal while price is still band-walking.
- Enter too late, after the most favorable price level has already passed.
High-Conviction Reversion Solution addresses these challenges by replacing guesswork about whether price is high or low enough with a systematic process for evaluating Mean Reversion opportunities.
Build every reversion trade on 3 key questions
Rather than relying on judgment alone to decide whether price has moved too far, High-Conviction Reversion Solution applies a structured process built around three essential questions:
- Direction – Should the trade favor Long or Short?
Establish the prevailing directional context before considering a potential reversion. - Location – Has price moved far enough from value to form a meaningful extreme?
Identify price extensions that stand out from the market's average or volume-defined value area, rather than treating every fluctuation as an opportunity. - Reaction – Has price shown the required response toward value?
Wait for qualifying return conditions before evaluating a potential entry.
The objective is not to predict market tops or bottoms. It is to identify meaningful price areas, wait for the required conditions, and evaluate potential trades when the market begins moving back toward value.
Find meaningful extremes. Trade the return toward value.
High-Conviction Reversion Solution combines 2 complementary approaches to evaluating price extremes, each offering a different perspective on how far price has moved from its reference area.
1. Statistical extremes
This approach measures the distance between price and its moving average using standard deviation. It identifies when price has extended unusually far from its statistical average, providing an objective reference for recognizing potential extremes rather than relying on whether price simply looks expensive or cheap.
2. Volume-defined extremes
This approach uses the Point of Control (POC) and Value Area High/Low (VAH/VAL) to identify areas where trading volume is concentrated. It reveals when price has moved beyond the volume-defined accepted value area and whether conditions for a return toward value are developing.
Together, they give High-Conviction Reversion Solution 2 distinct perspectives for identifying meaningful price extremes and evaluating potential returns toward value.
3 indicators. 3 distinct responsibilities.
A structured Mean Reversion approach requires more than identifying price extremes. It also requires directional context and clear conditions for evaluating potential reversals.
The following 3 indicators bring these elements together, each serving a specific role in the process.
01 · Direction – HAMA Monster
Establish which direction to favor.
HAMA Monster analyzes price behavior using price-based smoothing and Heiken Ashi principles to reduce short-term fluctuations and make prevailing directional movement easier to read. It provides directional context for prioritizing Long or Short opportunities before evaluating potential Mean Reversion entries.
02 · Statistical Location – Bollinger Reversal Pro
Identify statistically extended price levels.
Bollinger Reversal Pro measures price deviation from its moving average using standard deviation to identify potential statistical extremes. Configurable minimum tick-protrusion settings define how far price must extend beyond the bands before qualifying as an extreme. The indicator also identifies qualifying return signals, providing a more structured basis for evaluating potential reversals.
03 · Volume Location – Noble POC Band
Identify extremes beyond volume-defined value.
Noble POC Band calculates the Point of Control (POC), Value Area High (VAH), and Value Area Low (VAL) using a rolling volume distribution.
These levels reveal where trading activity is concentrated and help identify when price has moved beyond the accepted value area. Its return conditions provide additional criteria for evaluating a potential move back toward value, including a return through POC in the POC-based strategy.

Flexibility or selectivity? Choose your mean reversion setup
High-Conviction Reversion Solution offers 2 complementary trading setups, each combining directional context with a different method of identifying and qualifying price extremes.
Setup 01 · Flexible Entries
HAMA Monster + Bollinger Reversal Pro
Designed to accommodate different directional conditions, this setup provides two entry variations based on how price moves relative to the Bollinger Bands.
Entry variation 1: Middle Plot Retest
When directional movement is strong, price does not always need to reach the opposite outer band to create a potential entry. After crossing the Middle Plot, wait for price to retest it within the next 5–10 bars before evaluating the setup.
Entry variation 2: Opposite Outer Band
When price undergoes a deeper correction against the prevailing directional bias, wait for it to extend beyond the opposite outer band. A qualifying return signal then provides the condition for evaluating a potential entry.
Key advantage: Flexible entry locations for different market conditions.
Rather than relying on one fixed entry location, this setup offers alternative ways to identify potential reversion opportunities depending on the strength of directional movement and the depth of the correction.
Setup 02 · Selective entries
HAMA Monster + Noble POC Band
Designed with a higher-win-rate objective, this setup applies stricter conditions by combining directional priority with volume-defined extremes and qualifying return criteria.
How this setup works:
- Establish direction: Use HAMA Monster to determine whether Long or Short opportunities should be prioritized.
- Identify the extreme: Look for price extensions beyond VAH or VAL, depending on the prevailing directional bias.
- Confirm the return: Wait for a qualifying Noble POC Band Return signal, including the required movement back through POC in the POC-based strategy.
- Evaluate the Trade: Assess the potential entry, structural Stop Loss, and target using the volume-based reference levels.
Key advantage: Fewer signals. More selective entry conditions.
By requiring price to reach volume-defined extremes and satisfy additional return conditions, this setup focuses on more selective opportunities. Its design prioritizes a higher-win-rate objective rather than signal frequency, while volume-based reference levels provide additional context for evaluating risk and potential targets.
Transform the way you trade Mean Reversion
High-Conviction Reversion Solution brings greater structure and selectivity to every stage of your Mean Reversion trading process:
- More selective trade opportunities: Focus on qualified Mean Reversion setups instead of treating every pullback or price extension as a potential trade.
- More meaningful entry locations: Wait for price to reach defined statistical or volume-based extremes before considering an entry.
- A repeatable trading process: Follow a consistent Direction → Location → Reaction approach, supported by two complementary entry methods.
- Better directional alignment: Prioritize Long or Short opportunities based on the prevailing market direction.
- Flexible entry locations: Adapt entry criteria to different directional conditions rather than relying on a single fixed entry location.
- More defined risk references: Use Band structure, Renko brick size, and volume levels to evaluate entry locations, Stop Loss placement, and potential targets.
- Structured execution support: Put the methodology into practice with supporting playbooks, checklists, and automation compatibility.
