The AMA Pro indicator, built on the Adaptive Moving Average (AMA), distinguishes itself by its quick response to sudden market shifts.
For instance, when price behavior reverses sharply, traditional moving averages may lag in detecting the shift, while this indicator responds on time to help you spot trends sooner. This is valuable if you trade in volatile markets and need timely, reliable signals.
Why do we call this indicator pro?
AMA Pro comes with 2 filters: Smooth and Filter, making its AMA more reliable than other AMAs. This reduces noise and helps you avoid short-term market fluctuations.
It also features the Efficiency Ratio (ER), which measures the strength of trends and market volatility over a specific period, as follows:
- A higher ER indicates stronger trends and slower price reactions.
- A lower ER indicates more sudden price movements, which are easier to detect.
The ER period parameter is closely connected with the Fast period and Slow period settings:
- When ER indicates a strong trend, the indicator leans toward the Fast period value, allowing the moving average to respond more readily to rapid price movements.
- Conversely, when the ER is low, it shifts focus to the Slow period value, smoothing the moving average and reducing its sensitivity to short-term fluctuations.
This flexibility enables you to switch settings easily to suit various market conditions.
