Why we're rebuilding NINZA as a Research Firm

A letter about changing conditions, AI, and the future we believe systematic traders will need.

Aloha traders,

Over the last 12+ years, we have developed hundreds of tools, indicators, systems, and packages for traders around the world.

Yet in recent months, one critical question has appeared more frequently in our internal discussions than any other:

CHANGING LANDSCAPE

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is reshaping many aspects of our world in ways that would have been hard to imagine just a few years ago.

Programming tasks that once required weeks and specialized skills can now be completed in just an hour or two, often without any programming or technical expertise.

This shift is happening across nearly every software-development industry, including trading software, where AI has dramatically accelerated the creation of indicators, systems, and analytical tools.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR TRADERS

For traders, this creates opportunity… but also noise at the same time.

More indicators will be created. More systems will be published.

However, in many cases, it simply raises a serious question: 

We believe that question will become increasingly important in the years ahead…

Because while technology can dramatically accelerate creation, it does not automatically generate insight. 

And as in many industries, when supply expands rapidly, the value of many products inevitably becomes compressed.

WHAT TRULY CREATES VALUE

This forced us to rethink what truly creates value – not only for this year, but for the next 5 to 10 years.

After countless discussions, we arrived at a simple conclusion: 

An indicator is merely the final output.

Behind every meaningful trading software lie thousands of hours of observation, failed hypotheses, historical data, experimentation, optimization, and the disciplined elimination of ideas that did not work.

The indicator is the visible part, while research is the invisible foundation beneath it – much like the tip of an iceberg.

WHY WE ARE REBUILDING NINZA

We believe the trading software industry is entering a period of structural transformation.

In this new environment, traders won’t benefit from an endless supply of MORE indicators, more signals, or more complexity.

Instead, they will need better frameworks, better context, and better decision support – all backed by better research.

That realization has led us to a long-term decision: 

We believe research is the most durable source of value we can create for traders in the years ahead.

WHAT COMES NEXT

In the months ahead, you will begin to see new layers of NINZA emerge as we continue this transformation.

We will invest more deeply in:

• Decision-support systems
• Performance optimization

Through Research Notes, we will share short-form studies, observations, experiments, and findings from our ongoing research efforts.

To be clear…

We remain a company built by traders, for traders.

We will continue building new premium trading software.

We will continue supporting our customers to the best of our ability.

The difference is that we want research to come first.

Our premium trading products are the natural outputs of our extensive research – not the starting point of our workflow.

Every company eventually reaches moments that force it to decide what it wants to become.

We believe this is one of those moments for NINZA!

The next chapter of NINZA will not be defined by how many products we release. It will be defined by the quality of research behind them.
